Mr. Chairman...

Busy, busy day, and I know now that I will not have any time to craft a post.  So, on the occasion of what would've been his ninety-seventh birthday, I'll simply leave you with this:

Fall Weekend At Dover...

Just after we arrived.  Green flag was still a couple of hours away.

Start 'em up, boys!  (Sorry about the wind noise - it was breezy up there!)

The #18 makes a pit stop.  He was out front of the pack all day, but then had to give up the lead with only 8 laps to go in order to pit for gas.  SO frustrating.  I really thought he was going to win it this time!  Oh, well.  One of these years...

I had a video of the opening Green Flag, but it wasn't very good.  This one is much better.  Still doesn't in any way convey just how awesome it is to be there, though.

The Blue Deuce takes his victory lap.  He only led the last 8 laps, but as they say, you only need to lead one lap - the LAST one.

Frednecking At The Fair...

A small taste of my yester-evening.  (And warning - it's loud!)

Vlurble...

Going non-stop all day (starting with the 9a meeting - wtf? - that left me with no time to make it to the gym this morning - again - only to be rescheduled because someone else was late and couldn't make it - FML) trying to get this latest piece of coding finished by deadline, on top of all this other non-project work I have to do for the company this week - and frankly, I am wiped.  I've got nothin'.

So, instead, enjoy this little piece of bloody awesomeness:

Edgar Oliver...

Edgar Oliver is... well, a very interesting character, to put it mildly (and perhaps a bit too obviously).

A New York writer, poet, actor and all-around bohemian, by way of Savannah, GA, and Washington, D.C., I was first introduced to him through The Moth, and became completely entranced by him.

She and I are going to see his one-man-show in NYC for our anniversary this year, and I am so excited!

(And, yes, that is the way he actually talks; he is not acting or performing in the clips above, but simply telling stories.)

From The Desk, Additional...

Sorry, just had to post one more on my way out the door.

THIS is breathtaking.

Away From The Desk...

So, I'm leaving for the AGM tomorrow morning, and I won't be back until next Friday.

There's apparently internet at the site, but I don't know how reliable it is, or how much of a pain in the ass it is to access, so I'm not entirely sure whether I'm going to be able to post or not.  And even if I can, I'm probably going to be pretty occupied with other things while I'm there, so I'm not sure how much writing I'm going to be getting done.

I honestly just don't know.  As with every other AGM, I really have no idea what to expect.  We'll just have to see.

But, if you don't hear from me next week, you'll know why.

In the meantime, enjoy this little piece of beauty:

Stroke Of Insight...

As an addendum to yesterday's post, please take a few minutes out of your day and watch this video presentation on the neuro-biochemical experience of "I am you."

The Junkie And The Monk...

This is one of my absolute favorite Moth stories ever, and I'm so glad they finally posted it to their YouTube channel.

At Last, Salvation...

I have a working computer!

It's my old backup, so it's slow as dogshit running uphill in Winter (I swear you can count to thirty between when you click the right mouse button, and when the actual right-click menu finally shows up on screen), but at least it works, and at least I have internet again.

I'm posting this from home, and that alone is enough to make me want to do the Dance of Joy.

Busy Good...

I spent most of my work day on an urgent task that has to be done by tomorrow.  And then I took a long lunch with a dear friend whom I love very much (hi, C!) and don't get to see near often enough.  And now I need to hurry up and get out of here because She and I are going to see this tonight.

So, no time to write a nice post, unfortunately.  But all for good reasons.

So for now I'll just post this here, because it is the thing that moved me the most today.  I hope it touches you, too.

It Wasn't Enough.
